One hundred episodes is a strange number to sit with. Not because of the milestone itself, but because of what it let me see when I looked back across all of them at once: the threads that kept reappearing, no matter who I was speaking with or what the week's topic was supposed to be.
Self-Compassion Underneath Everything
Early on, in episode four, the conversation kept circling back to self-compassion as the actual foundation beneath any conversation about sexuality. You cannot talk someone into wanting sex, or into liking their own body, from a place of self-judgement. The compassion has to come first, or nothing else built on top of it holds.
Voice, Playfulness, and Shame
Episode nine was about reclaiming your own voice as a pathway to emotional healing, and it still sits with me. In episode seventeen, Anne Moore and I talked about playfulness, and how flirtation is not a beginning-of-relationship skill, it is a maintenance skill most couples quietly drop the moment things get serious. Episodes forty-three and forty-four went straight at sexual shame, and what it actually takes to build sexual intelligence once the shame has somewhere to go instead of just sitting there.
Where the Body Keeps the Score
Episode sixty-four, where I told my own story of trauma held in the body and the vulnerability it took to release it, remains one of the hardest and most important recordings I have made. And episode seventy-three, with Dr Kimberly Rose Pendleton, reframed pleasure itself as something that reaches beyond the bedroom, into how we show up professionally and how we lead.
"Authentic self-expression is not a personality trait. It is a practice you keep choosing, episode after episode, year after year."
Thank you for being here for a hundred of these. Here is to the next hundred conversations, and everything they teach me still.
